The beautiful Links course at Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort®️ will once again be the setting for a premier charity event, as the 8th Annual Gonzo & Friends Charity Golf Tournament returns on November 14 and 15. Hosted by former MLB All-Star Luis “Gonzo” Gonzalez, this year’s tournament will benefit 1Mission, a non-profit organization that empowers families in Puerto Peñasco and beyond to earn a home by investing social service hours in their community.
The tournament is a full-fledged fundraising effort, with a highly anticipated dinner and live auction kicking off the festivities on November 14. This event, open to the public, provides a unique opportunity to mingle with sports celebrities and bid on incredible sports memorabilia. Over the years, the auction has featured signed gear from legendary athletes like Fernando Valenzuela, Julio Spivey, Shohei Ohtani, Terry Francona, Freddie Freeman, Aaron Judge, Ketel Marte, Bryce Harper, Fernando Tatis Jr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bobby Witt Jr., Gunnar Henderson, Paul Skenes, Chris Sale, and Tarik Skubal, to name just a few., with funds going directly to support 1Mission’s work.
On November 15, the main event—a five-person scramble tournament—will take place. Four players will be teamed up with a celebrity friend of Gonzo’s, creating a unique and fun experience for all participants. Past and present athletes, including Terry Francona, Rodrigo López, Julio Spivey, Erubiel Durazo, Bruce Chen, Gil Heredia, Frank Sanders, Ever Magallanes, and Miles Butcher, have all participated in the tournament, generously giving their time to support the cause.
Luis Gonzalez and the team at Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort®️ have partnered to help more families build a foundation for a brighter tomorrow. Through the Gonzo & Friends tournament, they have already helped construct more than 10 homes, and the positive impact continues to grow.

The 1Mission model is built on the principle of “neighbors helping neighbors.” To date, the organization has helped more than 800 families build a new life, a new home, and a stronger community. In addition to their social service hours, families must also show proof that their children are attending school and are up-to-date on vaccinations.
