Registration Open for the Rocky Point Triathlon hosted by Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort

The event is expected to draw 800 participants from across the Southwest and Canada

Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort will play host to the Rocky Point Triathlon, Saturday, April 30, 2022. The triathlon will feature Olympic (1000 meter swim, 24 mile bike, 6.2 mile run) and Sprint (500 meter swim, 9.4 mile bike, 3.1 mile run) categories, as well as 10k and 5k run events. Participants can register as individuals or as two- or three-person relay teams.

“The Rocky Point Triathlon is a bucket-list event for adventurers and triathletes from around the world,” said Héctor Vázquez del Mercado, general director of Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort. “The weather is perfect at this time of year. The swim along the shoreline of the Sea of Cortés is beautiful, the bike course takes you through Sandy Beach, and then you conclude with a run through The Links golf course before finishing on the beach directly in front of the resort. It is truly an amazing experience.”

Triathlete Magazine has declared the Rocky Point Triathlon the Best Triathlon Party in the World. Registration is open now and can be completed online. Las Palomas is the official host resort of the Rocky Point Triathlon. Book directly with the resort for a discount using the code TRIA22 and password TRI22 for the best rates on rooms during the event. Because the resort has condos with up to four bedrooms, you can bring the whole family or stay with fellow athletes or team members right on site.

In addition to providing high-challenge fun for triathletes, a portion of registration funds benefit the Puerto Peñasco Youth Squad Program, managed by the city’s police department. This non-profit organization promotes social and civic values, civil service, and develops character and inclusive social awareness in youth 12-17.

Event manager Gustavo Warnholtz, who collaborates with local police and civil service forces for the Rocky Point Triathlon, says it likewise attracts members of these groups to participate. “Many of the registered relay teams are formed by local police force or civil service members, a fact which we are proud of as it speaks to the caliber of the triathlon and sense of community in Puerto Penasco this event generates.”
