National Tequila Day

For International Tequila Day, July 24, Las Palomas will welcome Tierra Noble Tequila and José Alfredo Ruíz García of La Cubiella to offer a tequila tasting for our guests at a cost of $25 per person

Who doesn’t love a well-crafted, delicious margarita, or a refreshing Paloma, made with the best quality tequila? While tequila can be mixed to make excellent cocktails, many higher-end tequilas are more well-suited for sipping and enjoying on their own.

The International Wine and Spirits Record (IWSR) says that the United States leads the world in tequila consumption, but tequila has a rich history as Mexico’s national liquor. Only spirits that are made from weber blue agave plants grown in the Tequila region of Mexico can legally call themselves “tequila”; everything else is mezcal.

For International Tequila Day, July 24, Las Palomas will welcome Tierra Noble Tequila and José Alfredo Ruíz García of La Cubiella to offer a tequila tasting for our guests at a cost of $25 per person including mouthwatering canapés at La Maria, starting at 7PM. The tasting will feature tequila blanco, reposado, añejo and cristalino. Situated in the mountains of Sierra del Tigre, Tierra Noble’s La Estacada distillery is one of the highest in the world, at 7,200 feet. At this altitude and low temperatures, musts ferment slowly, conserving the aromatic richness of the agave. The tequila is distilled twice, and then rests in 75-year-old American or 150-year-old French barrels to achieve optimum flavor and aroma.

Tierra Noble’s tequila masters have perfected the aging and distillation process to create unique flavor profiles for each of its five varietals — blanco, two reposados, añejo, and an extra añejo which is aged for up to 85 months. Theirs are artisan tequilas that will delight casual sippers and connoisseurs alike.

In addition to the tasting, there will be live entertainment by Mariachi Ruiz Señor of Mexicali, and guests can enjoy all of the expected fun and amenities at Las Palomas before and after the event, including resort pools, lazy river, water slides, and multiple swim-up bars, and dining at Citrón or La Maria.
