Since 2007, Mexico has set aside March 31st to celebrate Taco Day, one of Mexico’s most recognizable and delicious offerings to the culinary world. What better way to honor tacos than a special day to showcase our pride for this dish, which is fundamental to the Mexican family diet?

Taco Day is an initiative first launched by a Mexican TV station, which started the celebration in an effort to acknowledge tacos as the country’s most traditional dish. Curiously, Mexico celebrates Taco Day on March 31st, though in the US it is celebrated on October 4th.

The taco, as a dish with deep cultural impact on Mexico, is part of the country’s broader gastronomy recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Whether ordering your tacos in a corn or flour tortilla, you can choose from mouth watering fillings such as carne asada, al pastor, tripita, birria, cabeza, cochinita, fish, or shrimp, or possibly even for tacos al vapor (steamed tacos), or simply refried beans. This typical culinary experience in Mexico is both one of the most exquisite and highly anticipated moments when vacationing here.

Since one day simply isn’t enough, and to celebrate this VERY Mexican culinary tradition, Las Palomas Beach & Golf Resort will be holding “Taco Fest” from April 2nd – 4th on the terrace at Citrón. The “All you can Eat Tacos & Quesadillas” soiree includes freshly handmade tortillas on the spot.

On this special day, we’ll have taco stands, mariachis, and piñatas to turn the experience into a special Mexican Spring Fiesta!
